New Karate Kid flick! Starring Will Smith's lightie! Warning: this could suck. Badly!

In yet another Hollywood reboot of a beloved (and once again, Eighties) classic, the movie powers have elected to remake The Karate Kid. This time, with a displaced African American (read: hip) lightie in the lead role. Will Smith's lightie, no less. Jackie Chan takes on the role of a Miyage-like mentor, and of course, there's a whole "wax-on, wax-off" homage, this time with a jacket.

The whippersnapper in the lead looks suitably cute and can probably kick some karate arse. Jackie Chan has his moments, and the trailer makes it look like a pretty sweet, harmless bit of nostalgic retread. That said, trailers can make anything look interesting. The risk of this being diabolical is huge! If forced to bet, FHM would place all our chips on "Utter, Complete Arse". But there is hope...
