Argies set for Tri–Nations in 2012
The Pumas from Argentina look like they'll form part of an extended Tri–Nations championship from 2012.
Great news for rugby, FHM just hope that administrators have the sense not to call the competition the Four Nations. Not very imaginative that...
According to reports from Aus, New Zealand, the UK and SA the Argies' entry is dependant on their commitment to send their best players, most of whom play in the Northern Hemisphere. Could get pretty interesting, and one has to wonder what Aussies, Boks and Kiwis playing in Europe might think once their Argie mates start getting picked for the Four (or whatever) Nations. This could be the start of a global season for rugga. Things could pretty swiftly with comps like the Tri and Six Nations jolled at similar times.
There is no doubt that a full strength Argentina would add significantly to the comp. They have been power over the past few years and reached the semis of the 2007 World Cup. We're scheming that this is damn exciting and that the game of rugby will be stronger for it...
