The Bledisloe Cup
There are a few great rugby games on this weekend, starting with some great Currie Cup action tonight that sees the Sharks trying to get their season back on track after a shock loss to Western Province. But the real game of the weekend is Saturday morning's Tri Nations and Bledisloe Cup opener between New Zealand and Australia.
The history of the Bledisloe Cup has never really favoured the Wallabies – except maybe that five-year stint they had from 1998-2002 – because of New Zealands 37-12 cup win dominance. We reckon the Aussies will come out strong in the competition this year and the Carter-less All Blacks will have to pull out something spectacular.
But from a South African point of view, the Tri Nations proper only starts next week when the All Blacks reach our shores for a proper Springbok pounding. For now, we'll let them play for their little shiny trophy...
And just because we love you, here's some highlights from last year's competition...
